A Keepsake Company began as a company dedicated to honoring the memories of one’s beloved furry friend and family member. After watching many of her friends experience the devastating loss of their pets, Sandy Haworth (with help and inspiration from her best buddy, Wrigley, an English Lab) realized the need for a different way to help share memories of these special friends and work through the grief process.
She wanted some type of memorial that would:
- capture the wonderful life and times of the special family member
- not look like an urn
- help the grieving process, especially for children
- allow for storage of those special keepsake items
- always bring a smile and comfort to pet families
That’s how the Pet Memory Keepsake boxes were born. It’s a simple but personal concept. The Create-Your-Own Pet Memory Keepsake is a keepsake box that can be designed by you, the owner. The Artisan Collection are ready to use boxes that have been designed by Lisa Pavelka, a world renowned mixed media artist and a pet lover. Lisa was commissioned to create two exclusive designs for A Keepsake Company. These pieces are intended to be as original and special as your pet friend.
Wisdom Within These Walls
Understanding the depth of how important memories, reflections and legacies are with all of our relationships, AKC became involved with The Wisdom Within These Walls project. It’s an organization devoted to sparking conversation and inquiry into the nature of wisdom: from our families, our elders, our veterans, our homeless, our pets and every and all populations. Wisdom provides education and entertainment by collecting stories and producing readers’ theaters around the country. Its goal is to educate and inspire.
